Dubai Blings Mona Kattan runs a billion-dollar beauty empire with her sisters Wed 13 Decembe
Cue the glitz, glam, and mind-blowing wealth of Dubai’s high-flyers as Netflix’s Dubai Bling is back with season 2. Kicking off a brand new season this December, Zeina Khoury, Safa Siddiqui, Farhana Bodi, Ebraheem Al Samadi, and the rest of the cast members are joined by newbie Mona Kattan.
Mona waltzes onto the Dubai Bling set quite literally blinged-out as she dazzles in a head-to-toe rhinestone bodysuit and headpiece in season 2 episode 1. While introducing herself on the Netflix show, Mona brings some extra sass as she spritzes her very own fragrance everywhere – talk about product placement – the woman’s a marketing whiz.
Mona Kattan joins Dubai Bling
There are already many entrepreneurs in the Dubai Bling circle, but season 2 adds another businesswoman to the cast – Mona Kattan.
She explains in episode 1 she hails from Iraq but was born and raised in the USA. Mona was born in Oklahoma, before being raised in Tennessee and Massachusetts, per her YouTube channel bio.
The Dubai Bling newbie moved to UAE in 2002 and began a career in investment banking in 2008. Soon afterward, she opted for a career switch to entrepreneurship and never looked back.
Mona’s fragrance business
Netflix fans will likely have heard of Mona’s business ventures – but they may not know the ladies behind the brand.
She writes in her YouTube bio: “I’m the Founder of Kayali Fragrances and the Co-Founder of Huda Beauty & HB Investments.”
Mona and her sisters, Huda and Alya Kattan, launched cosmetics line Huda Beauty in 2013.
Speaking on Dubai Bling, Mona said she always wanted to be a businesswoman. And, it looks like she and her sister have made those dreams come true. Mona said Huda Beauty was valued at $1.2 billion in 2017.
In 2020, Huda Beauty’s annual sales were estimated at $250 million, writes Forbes.
After co-founding Huda Beauty, Mona went on to launch Kayali Fragrances in 2017, per her LinkedIn page.
Dubai Bling star is married
Mona married businessman Hassan Elamin in 2022 after a year-long engagement.
The newlyweds aren’t shying away from PDA on Dubai Bling and Mona describes her husband as a “calming force” and a “dream come true”.
Prior to their relationship turning romantic, they’d been friends on Facebook since 2007.
Speaking in a YouTube video about how they met, Hassan explained that Mona went to university with his sister.
