Gypsy Rose Bio (Wiki)

Who is Gypsy Rose?

Gypsy Rose is a convicted American criminal who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison as of 2015. This is because she was found guilty of the second-degree murder of her abusive mother back in June 2015.

Gypsy Rose: Age, Parents, Childhood

Gypsy Rose, full name Gypsy Rose Blanchard, was born on the 1st of July, 1991 in Louisiana, USA. As of now, her age is 30. Her nationality is American and her ethnicity is Caucasian.

Rose was born to parents Rod Blanchard and Dee Dee Blanchard. Her parents separated shortly after birth. And rose had a nightmarish childhood growing up with her mother. This is because many experts have suspected that her mother suffered from a mental condition where a parent or caretaker feigns, exaggerates, or induces illnesses in the person under their care for sympathy or attention. This was exactly what Dee Dee did as she claimed that she suffered from several severe illnesses such as leukemia, asthma, muscle dystrophy, and other chronic conditions.

Due to all this, Gypsy underwent several unnecessary surgeries, was confined to a wheelchair even though she could walk, and took several medications. Her mother even claimed that Gypsy had the mental capacity of a 7-year-old due to premature birth when that wasn’t the case. This was all proven to be true after investigations into Gypsy after her mother’s murder. But before this, Dee Dee used her nursing knowledge and several medications to induce symptoms of illnesses that Gypsy didn’t even suffer. Gypsy was also a victim of even more physical and psychological abuse from her mother which eventually led to her planning to murder her.

Her father didn’t know any of this and rather, he thought of Dee Dee as a kind and loving mother.

In which school did Gypsy Rose attend?

Gypsy studied up until second grade but was homeschooled after that due to her supposed illness.

The Murder of Gypsy Rose’s mother, Dee Dee Blanchard

Dee Dee managed to hide the fact that Gypsy wasn’t ill by moving away after relatives suspected this. She even had the excuse of Hurricane Katrina for several missing medical reports. Gypsy even tried to escape her mother on a few occasions. However, she was caught by her mother who threatened to smash her fingers if she ever tried it again. Dee Dee went to extreme lengths like leashing and handcuffing Gypsy to her bed to make her more obedient and prevent her from escaping. As a result of this and the abuse and torment she suffered throughout her life, Gypsy made plans to kill her mother.

Gypsy met Nicholas Godejohn sometime in 2012. The two met on the internet and made plans to elope together. And even though Gypsy didn’t find him desirable after meeting in person, she continued talking to him. The two eventually made plans to murder Dee Dee through the internet. Then on a day in June 2015, Gypsy let Nicholas into her house. She provided him with a knife, duct tape, and gloves to murder her mother. During this, Gypsy hid in the bathroom and covered her ears. And after the act was done, the two fled the scene.

Investigations, Conviction, and Sentence

The police found the dead body of Dee Dee lying in her bed in a pool of blood from several stab wounds. Because Gypsy wasn’t found at the crime scene and the police thought that she didn’t have the mental capacity of an adult, they searched for her, suspecting a kidnapping. Eventually, they found Gypsy with her boyfriend in Wisconsin. And through investigations, they eventually learned the truth about the murder and Dee Dee’s treatment of Gypsy and suspected that she was mentally ill.

In the end, Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2015. On the other hand, her boyfriend, Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison after a brief trial in 2018. Gypsy is currently undergoing psychiatric care and classes in Chillicothe Correctional Centre in Missouri. She has received a lot of sympathy as the victim of her mother for her entire life and her mother has promised to take care of her once she’s out of prison.
