Watch 'Sorcerer' Archer Who Can Curve His Arrows Around Objects
An online archer has been dubbed a "sorcerer," after TikTok users were left both impressed and confused by his skills.
Josh O'Dell, who goes by the online name Arrow Sniper, shared footage of him curving an arrow after shooting it on May 28, and has amassed over six million views and 500,000 likes on the clip.
The video impressively shows the arrow curve around a tree and hit a target after O'Dell shoots it—all in slow motion.
"I can't wrap my mind around this," wrote one bewildered TikTok user.
"My god, i've lived in the mountains and primitive hunted for 30 years but never in my life have I seen such mastery. I am humbled," added another user.
After a Reddit user found the video, it was shared to the Subreddit "Blackmagicf**kery," on June 4, and gained over 50,000 votes. "Complete sorcerer curves an arrow around a tree and hits the target," they titled the post.
Similar to the TikTok post, Reddit was filled with amazement at the video, with one user writing: "If I was this in a fantasy movie, I would have said 'that's ridiculous'."
"He's better than Hawkeye, why isn't he in Avengers," joked another.
Others even suggested that the archer used string to perform the trick, but O'Dell has explained his technique on his TikTok account before.
O'Dell might seem it, but he's not quite a "sorcerer."
Instead, he explains, "In order to make an arrow curve, there's a few things you have to do. Firstly, I move the fletching about halfway down the arrow. So what that does is it puts the arrow on a centre axis. The second thing that you have to do is instead of knocking the arrow straight back, i'm gonna knock it high, so it's gonna look like this. So what happens is when you shoot the bow sideways, it puts the arrow into a fishtail, so then you can curve it."
For archery amateurs, the explanations may not mean much, but he provides a physical demonstration in the clip too.
Curving the arrow isn't where O'Dell's "sorcery" stops either, as other videos on his popular TikTok account, with over one million followers, show him shooting an arrow through a donut hole and through pipes. In his latest video, uploaded less than a day ago, O'Dell manages to shoot the arrow through the small hole at the end of a hairbrush handle.
Newsweek contacted O'Dell for a comment.
